It’s a manufacturing/production management role – but possibly not like any production plant you have experienced before. Our primary focus each and every day is coffee: drinking it, tasting it, cupping it, blending it, delivering it to the customer at just the right time for them to enjoy the fruits of our labour.
As the person responsible for the complete production process you will manage two small teams on site – the ones who roast the beans and create the magic, and the ones who carefully package it and send it on its way to our loyal customers. There is no button pushing robotics here – our roasters lovingly tend to every single batch roast and individual bean variety, post blending the beans to deliver a coffee product that just can’t be made on a fully automated production line.
This is a full-time Monday to Friday position with the chance of weekend work and overtime on rare occasions. Sometimes you will start early, or finish late, and every day you will get your hands dirty – that’s how we all work here at Toby’s. The role is based at our Chippendale factory and works closely with our Procurement and QA teams, reporting to the National Operations Manager.
As Production Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Demand planning and production forecasting to manage the day to day
- Implementation of efficient manufacturing processes and data analysis to
meet the growing needs of the business;
- Management of a team of 9 Roasters and Production Assistants;
- Inventory management for all raw supplies and finished products entering
and leaving the site;
- Maintenance of all equipment on site, and involvement in sourcing new
- General accountability for site cleanliness and organisation to ensure a
safe working space and compliance with our WHS procedures.
To be in the running for this role you should be able to show us that you have:
- 3 years demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within a food
or beverage manufacturing plant;
- Forecasting experience in a high volume manufacturing environment;
- Skill to lead and motivate your team to meet targets and deadlines;
- Strong communication and negotiation skills;
- A current high reach forklift licence would be advantageous.
Previous work experience in the coffee world would be highly valued, but not entirely essential. We should also add that an appreciation for a wide range of music genres would serve you well!
In addition to consuming our extensive coffee range when you are in a Toby’s owned location, we offer a remuneration package that includes a market-equitable base salary, plus superannuation and use of a company phone. We are a fun loving social crew, so you will also enjoy breakfast BBQs, birthday celebrations and the occasional warehouse party (with soundtrack provided by one of our in-house DJs!).
If this sounds like the ideal role for you, apply now! Please forward an application that shows us you are the one we want on our team. No agency assistance required thanks.
